Laurence "Larry" Fishburne est un acteur et réalisateur américain né le 30 juillet 1961 à Augusta, Géorgie (États-Unis). Après avoir passé son enfance à Brooklyn, il intègre le célèbre cours d'art dramatique; l'Actors Studio, où il apprend le métier de comédien. En 1976, alors qu'il n'a que 14 ans, il rejoint Francis Ford Coppola dans Apocalypse Now. Les années 90 viennent marquer l'apogée de cet acteur afro-américain. Il est même nommé pour l'Oscar du meilleur premier rôle masculin pour son interprétation d'Ike Turner, le mari violent de Tina Turner dans le film consacré à la vie de la chanteuse: Tina. En 1995, il est le premier Afro-américain à jouer dans Othello. Il acquiert définitivement sa place à Hollywood avec son rôle de Morpheus dans Matrix en 1999.
